Muffik: A UK store on Shopify, still the same Muffik

A Czech maker of orthopedic puzzle mats wanted to try the UK on a new platform. The home store stayed on Shoptet as it was. For the UK we built a Shopify store that looks just like it. The team places the puzzle pieces on it themselves.

Project overview

MUFFIK makes orthopedic mats shaped like puzzle pieces in the Czech Republic. Children, adults and seniors use them, and so do nurseries and physiotherapists.

Their main store, muffik.com, runs on Shoptet Premium, and moving all of it was not on the table. The UK was a chance they did not want to miss, though. So the UK got its own Shopify store, and with it a trial of a new platform. Seven weeks passed from the decision to the launch.

Another platform, the same brand

A customer in the UK should meet the same Muffik as one in the Czech Republic. So we did not design from scratch. We took a premium theme and shaped it into the home store.

Two stores that look like one

The same red, the same type, the same puzzle motif. Only the currency and the address tell them apart.

We fitted the Local theme to the Muffik identity: DIN Next type, rounded corners, our own sections and a page for each kind of customer.

Custom theme

The catalogue, carried over from Shoptet

We moved the products from Shoptet with a script. Names, codes, EANs, weights, variant colours and full-size photos.

New sets go across the same way, so they are on the UK store the same day.

Data migration

What stayed on Shoptet

  • The main store, muffik.com
  • Orders, stock and the routines the team knows
  • Everything that already worked

What the UK got

  • Its own Shopify store with prices in pounds
  • Card payments, and bank transfer for wholesale
  • A UK warehouse that picks up orders by itself
  • Royal Mail delivery, free over £50

Puzzle pieces Muffik places itself

The puzzle motif runs through the whole Muffik site. We turned it into settings in the theme editor. The team changes it on its own, without a designer or us.

A piece is set in the editor

Any section can take a piece on any edge. The team picks a colour and a size, then moves and turns the piece. The change shows right away.

The pieces live in the code, not in the images. A new photo or campaign needs no designer.

Theme editorCustom build

Where

On any edge of a section. A piece slides along the edge and can reach past it.

How

A solid piece or an outline, four colours, three sizes and any angle.

On what

Separately for desktop and mobile, so a piece never covers the text.

A page for everyone who stands on the mats

Parents buy the mats, and so do nurseries, physiotherapists and dog owners. Each of them finds their own page.

From babies to seniors

The menu leads to pages for children, adults, seniors, schools and nurseries, doctors and physiotherapists, and dogs.

Collections sort the sets by what a parent is dealing with: flat feet, toe walking, knock knees. On a product, the long description is split into sections that open on a tap.

A cart that leads to checkout

In summer 2026 we went through the cart together with their marketing agency. We reworked it along proven practice.

Free delivery within reach

A bar above the cart shows how much is left to free delivery. One more item and it turns green.

The order note and the discount code sit in folded fields. Under the checkout button, badges put the customer at ease.

Cart UX

Checkout always in sight

On a phone, the total and the checkout button stay at the bottom of the screen.

Sales without a developer

A sale badge is switched on in the theme with its text and dates. It shows and goes away by itself.
