Bohemian Coffee House: Specialty coffee by brew method, origin and roast
A custom Shopify theme for a family roastery and café in Rumburk, Czechia. The roaster enters a few details per coffee, and the site builds the scales, filters, card colours and badges from them.

Project overview
Bohemian Coffee House is a family café, roastery and Coffee Lab in Rumburk, in the far north of Czechia. They buy green beans from growers, some directly from Mexico, and roast them in two levels.
The new site completed a rebrand. Zdeněk Zeman designed it, and we built the Shopify theme and the data model behind the coffee.

Entered once, used in four places
For each coffee the roaster fills in the country, region, variety, process, tasting notes, roast level and acidity. In Shopify admin that is 19 fields.
From that one record the site draws the scales on the product page, the collection filters, the tasting notes on the card and the badges. Nothing is typed twice.
A store built around the coffee
People choose coffee in different ways: by their machine, by taste or by country. The site offers all three.
Espresso or drip?
The collection filters by brew method, origin and process. Results change at once, without a page reload.
On hover, a card shows the tasting notes in the colour of the continent the coffee comes from.
Light or dark
Every coffee comes in two roasts. Each roast is its own product with its own URL, so both show up in the collection and in search.
On the product page a switch links them. The roast and acidity scales change with it, and the i icon explains which roast suits which brew method.

Colours by origin
The labels on the bags are coloured by continent. A collection card takes the same colour when you hover over it.
The hexagonal badges come from the same family. The roaster adds them with one field in admin.
Pages they build themselves
The café, the roastery and the Coffee Lab each have their own page. The team puts them together from our sections.

Café, roastery, Coffee Lab
We moved their 2018 Motion theme to Shopify 2.0. Instead of fixed templates the store now has 27 templates built from sections.
After launch the team put together the Café, Roastery, About and Contact pages themselves, without a developer.
Designed for phones too
The design planned for mobile from the start. Coffees sit in two columns and the filters fold into panels.
Variant buttons are bigger and Add to cart runs full width, so buying works with one thumb.
What else is in the theme
Cut corners
Corners cut at 45° are the new brand’s signature. In the theme it is one rule for photos, cards, dialogs and buttons.
Three languages
Rumburk sits on the German border. The theme speaks Czech, English and German, including the scales and the brewing guide.
From design to launch
The design arrived in November 2025 and the site has been live since April 2026. Homepage first, then the collection, product page and Coffee Lab.
Our apps in this store
Alongside the custom work, the store runs apps we publish on the Shopify App Store ourselves.
